by Paul Bolt
(Dubai)

I've been training for over 1 yr but I see only very small changes, this has made me lately go to gym only onc per week because I'm depressed. I've tried protein shakes, creatine from different companies and amino from muscle tech. I want to try now either testosterone or growth-hormones. Im 21yrs, tall and little skinny, but 86kgs. pls help.

Answer:

I looks like with your situation trying testosterone or over the counter human growth hormone supplements won't help.

It seems like you're just jumping around from supplement to supplement hoping for a miracle. Guess what, these supplements don't work like that. You can't take a supplement, hit the gym for a couple weeks and get big. It doesn't work like that. You really need an overall diet and exercise routine. Spending your money on something like No Nonsense Muscle Building would be much better for you than buying another bodybuilding supplement at this time.

Don't get me wrong, supplements like whey protein, amino acid supplements and creatine can help, but you're probably relying on them too much. They work best once a proper diet and training plan is in place.

For example, what does your diet and exercise routine look like right now? Assuming you want to get bigger from your question, you're going to have to eat and train the right way. Chances are you're not eating enough food per day, and at one point you might have been training too much, or too little.

So don't get a testosterone or HGH supplement right now, I guarantee you won't see results with them considering your posted question. I would recommend you get your diet and training aligned with your fitness goals first, and the program recommended above should work.

Just to give you a bit of perspective of what you should be eating and what exercises you should doing for mass gain here's a quick overview:

For calories you need to eat 20 times your body weight in pounds. So 20 x 189 = 3800 calories per day. That could be double what you're currently doing so this is going to be a big change. You should be eating every 3 hours. Protein like chicken, beef - carbs like brown rice, sweet potatoes - and healthy fats. Adding whole milk to your diet is the easiest way to add calories.

For training, focusing on deadlifts, squats and bench presses is going to help the most. Try and get strong in these 3 lifts. Training 3 times a week and resting a lot will help you gain weight.

So again, focus on setting up a good diet and exercise routine instead of jumping from supplement to supplement.
