Purity Vitamins
Why are pharmaceutical grade vitamins the best?
What do purity vitamins and pharmaceutical grade vitamins have that other vitamins don't?
The quality of supplements in the market today will vary a lot. The different ingredients and
manufacturing processes used can really make one supplement much more pure than others.
That's what
creates purity vitamins.
High quality ingredients and high quality manufacturing. This is what
differentiates a quality product from poor product.
Here are some of the qualities of pharmaceutical grade vitamins:
Completeness
Throughout the years of studying and researching different nutrients, researchers have learned
that there are many different vitamins and minerals that the body needs to function properly.
Since your body cannot produce these by itself, you must get them through your diet.
High quality pharmaceutical grade supplements will have a certain amount of these essential
nutrients. Other low quality graded products will not be able to guarantee a level of completeness
that compares to pharmaceutical grade products.
Potency Guarantee
What's on the label, is in the bottle.
That might sound like a routine statement, but it's not.
With many supplements you don't actually get what it says on the label. Dietary supplements are
still considered a food by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). What this means is that
there is a food grade standard for these products.
Therefore the potency does not have to meet the
amounts stated. However, with pharmaceutical grade vitamins, it's a different story. These
products have the same standard of manufacturing as pharmaceutical drugs do. This means that what
is on the label, is in the bottle.
This can validate the extra cost of these products. Purity vitamins tend to be more expensive than
the typical supermarket supplement.
But you will find that buying the cheaper product is a
complete waste of money. Cheap nutritional supplements can offer no potency guarantee. Most of the
time the ingredients will come up short of what's stated on the label.
Bioavailability
Do the products actually work?
Bioavailability refers to how well the supplement gets absorbed by
your body. If your supplements don't break down and just get flushed out through your system,
they're a complete waste.
Multivitamins are very complex supplements. They need the right amount of certain ingredients and
the proper type of manufacturing. Cheap supermarket supplements with poor quality ingredients and
manufacturing are referred to as expensive urine. You swallow a pill, it doesn't break down in
your body, and you flush it out.
Bioavailability is much different with high quality health supplements. These pharmaceutical grade
supplements meet the same manufacturing guidelines as pharmaceutical drugs do.
For example, when
you get sick and get a prescription for antibiotics, you can be confident your body will absorb
the medicine. Well these vitamins meet the same standards. These supplements can be trusted to do
their jobs.
Now, there are actually many more criteria that get examined when doing product ratings, but those
are the big 3.
Another criteria that I consider very important is third party approval. When a supplement gets a
stamp of approval from a respectable outside source, it holds a lot of weight. One specific third
party is the NSF.
The NSF International is a not-for-profit organization that tests and certifies products based on
standards it writes. It has standards for food, water, air, and consumer goods.
It inspects Good
Manufacturing Practices and provides on going testing. The NSF is widely recognized for its
scientific and technical expertise in the health and environmental sciences.
If your nutritional supplement can meet the standards set out by the NSF, than you can be sure it
provides high quality products.
When it comes to health supplements, don't sell yourself to the lowest bidder.
It is very
important to make sure you're getting quality ingredients, and manufacturing processes that meet
pharmaceutical standards.
