Nitro Muscle Mass and High Blood Pressure

by Trey Edwards

Is it safe to take this supplement if I'm on blood pressure medication? I am in good physical shape, but the high blood pressure runs in the family unfortunately.

I strength train and run. I compete in races as well. Since I started running about 4 yrs ago, I lost a lot of the desired weight I was looking to lose ( around the mid section ). I've never really been overweight, but b/c of poor diet and other bad habits I had quite a gut.

From what I've read, this sounds like a great supplement. Just want to make sure it doesn't increase my heart an excessive amount ( i.e. Xenadrine, sp? ).

Don't mind putting the work in at the gym to see the results and my diet is MUCH better and I've leaned up quite a bit, but I want to add some lean muscle mass and hoping this might help.

Thank you.

Trey E.

Unfortunately I haven't found a clear answer to taking these kinds of supplements with high blood pressure.

Some information available says that it can help while others suggest you should check with your doctor.

These supplements are meant to give you an extreme pump and energy boost, but there seems to be better research on the muscle building capabilities of other supplements.

The best approach in terms of safety would be to stick to whey protein and creatine for your muscle building supplements.

Considering your high blood pressure this is probably the best approach to take, plus the benefits of whey protein and creatine have been clearly shown in numerous studies.

It sounds like you're progressing nicely and staying consistent which is key to gaining mass. Your diet and training programs will really produce the results. Once you're consistent with those, adding a creatine supplement like Optimum Creatine Powder will help you add more muscle, however always consult with your doctor and monitor your blood levels if you have a severe case of high blood pressure.

This is a basic, but effective supplement for bodybuilding.

CREATINE NOT GOOD FOR BLOOD PRESSURE
by: Anonymous

have a bit of a read..Creatine is not safe product for people with high blood pressure. yes it is natural but natural does not mean safe for everyone

Yes it might

Creatine may cause high blood pressure however it's not totally clear. I haven't found any conclusive studies on this, however there are stories of people who found their blood pressure levels rise when taking creatine. Usually when taking large amounts.

If the supplements contain other stimulants this may affect the blood pressure reading as well. One blood pressure reading is not conclusive either.

Some sources say it should be avoided, others say you should monitor yourself with low dosages.

Bottom line, if you have high blood pressure and are taking medication, consult with your doctor about creatine.

The safest approach would be to avoid it in certain situations, but you are missing out on some clear benefits, which have been studied and proven. If you decide to use creatine then monitor your blood pressure closely and start with a low dosage.

Also avoid supplements that contain other stimulants. A pure micronized creatine monohydrate supplement would be best, which is what was recommended here.
