Nitric Oxide use with Anticoagulants?

by Leroy Madison

Does anyone know if NO can be used if you take anticoagulants ?

I take warfarin because I had a DVT and got blood clots in my lower leg . My heart is fine and I don't take it for any other reason than the clotting and subsequent venous damage to keep the blood thinner to help minimise a future spread of clotting .

I would like to try a NO product but am wary as I fear it could have a bad effect when used with an anticoagulant such as warfarin - perhaps inhibit the warfarin function. Because blood flow is the topic and mine is already not normal what if any are the contras. Knowing my luck there won't be any positives. I usually find that warfarin stops me being able to take so many things and this will probably be another .

I am otherwise very fit and a serious bodybuilder who is already big but always looking for an extra edge and this is something I have yet to try .

Would be grateful for any help. From what I've read and summised my own guess is it would be not advisable for me to try it but hoping I am wrong.

From what I've researched, these types of supplements may increase the risk of bleeding, therefore it is advised that you check with your doctor, or whoever prescribed you with anticoagulants.

This question has come up before and I haven't found any solid information regarding a clear answer.

There are quite a few herbs that you should try and avoid which you probably already know about. These lists DON'T included arginine and nitric oxide supplements, but certain sources say that "in theory" arginine may increase the risk of bleeding, therefore they may interact with anticoagulants.

Your best bet is to check with your doctor before using nitric oxide supplements.

If you come to any conclusions, please pass on the information here.
