List of low calorie foods

Low calorie smoothie recipes are the best

There's nothing fancy about your basic list of low calorie foods.

Fruits and vegetables will definitely top everyone's list. If it comes down to the numbers, fruits and veggies have the lowest calories.

It seems that everyone knows how important fruits and vegetables are, but we still don't do anything about it. If you were to make your own list of low calorie foods, I'll bet you would have a few fruits and veggies in the top five.

So why aren't people eating more of these low calorie foods?

Well, alone they're pretty boring. I think we all know the foods that we should eat to stay healthy, but taste and temptation are very powerful feelings. It's hard to make yourself eat foods that don't taste that good.

The easiest solution here is low calorie smoothie recipes: Low calorie smoothie recipes

  • They're so easy to make
  • There are so many different kinds
  • They're super healthy
  • You can include supplements

The most important thing to keep in mind regarding low calorie foods is their nutritional value. Rice cakes and celery throughout the day will keep your calories low, but you will be missing out on essential nutrients.

The great thing about low calorie smoothie recipes is that they can include some form of supplement. There are two types of health supplements I'm referring to.

Firstly, you can make a habit of taking your multivitamin and fish oil supplements while drinking your smoothies. These are two very important vitamins and anyone focusing on a low calorie diet should make sure they're taking these two supplements.

Secondly, mixing whey protein, soy protein, or a low glycemic supplement into your smoothies adds flavour, and other important nutrients like fiber and protein.

High quality whey protein has 24 grams of protein, with only 130 calories. Mixing in different fruits, low fat milk and yogurt, and you've got a great tasting smoothie that's full of healthy ingredients.

For these reasons, I would have to say that smoothies and protein shakes top my list of low calorie foods.

Some low calorie food is referred to as negative calories.

Fruits and vegetables are sometimes called negative calorie foods. Now, don't get confused here. These foods do have calories.

Apart from water, there isn't any food that has no calories. The negative calories just refers to foods that have very low calories and your body burns more energy chewing and digesting them.

There's no science to back this up, but sticking to these low calorie foods is an easy way to keep your total calories down.

Other types of low calorie foods:

When you focus on low calories, it can be hard to maintain an exciting social life. Eating out and partying can really affect your low calorie diet. Salads are your best choice for low calorie fast food. It's best to avoid fast food altogether, but if you have no other choice, stick to the salads with light dressings.

Vodka Water If your night moves past dinner and onto drinks, there are some low calorie alcoholic drinks to keep in mind. Beer is probably your worst choice. It has the most calories so choose something else.

The best low calorie alcohol would be a vodka water, or gin and tonic. Many athletes trying to keep their calories down drink vodka waters. Add some fresh lime and it tastes pretty good. This will also help avoid hangovers.

Remember, your basic low calorie foods are fruits and veggies.

Based on the numbers these have the fewest calories. But adding health supplements is the best way to get low calories that are nutritious. This is what is most important with low calorie foods.

You need to make sure you're getting essential nutrients.

Health supplements like multivitamins, fish oil pills, and protein powder are very important to combine to your low calorie foods. This way you keep your calories down, while maintaining good levels of important nutrients.
