A typical cup of green tea will usually have around 30 mg of caffeine, compared to 100 mg in a cup of coffee. To get all the benefits of green tea most experts recommend drinking 3 to 5 cups per day.

Sticking to these recommendations shouldn't cause any side effects.

However, it's important to remember that lots of other foods may contain caffeine, and together with drinking green tea may cause side effects.

There are many benefits of green tea, but it's important to remember that taking too much of anything is usually not recommended.

  • Upset stomach


Green tea should always be drank fresh. Don't drink cold green tea that has been left out. Also, don't drink it when it's too hot :) Burning your tongue isn't fun.

If you're taking prescribed medication, it's always safe to check with your doctor what types of supplements are safe. Depending on your current health condition, extra caffeine might not be healthy for you.
