The extra ingredients in these supplements actually make a difference

CytoSport CytoGainer, and CytoSport Muscle Milk are two awesome supplements.

They are both widely used by top athletes.

People who really know their supplements recommend CytoSport Whey products.

They don't have a lot of flashy advertisements or sponsorships, and honestly they don't need them...

These products sell themselves.

Both CytoGainer and Muscle Milk are high quality supplements.

Let's go over each one in a little bit more detail.

CytoGainer Review

CytoSport CytoGainer is categorized by many as one of the best weight gainers.

If you're looking to put on mass, increasing your calorie intake is extremely important.

In fact, it's a must for gaining weight.

If you've ever read or heard about some of those incredible weight gain stories, they usually consist of someone eating 5 to 7 thousand calories a day.

Getting calories is important, and is the main focus of a weight gainer supplement. But, there are a few things you should look out for.

It's important to examine how many carbs your getting compared to protein, and it's also important to check out how much sugar is in every serving size.

Here's the nutrients in CytoGainer (4 scoops - 150 grams):

  • 560 calories
  • 75 grams of carbs
  • 54 grams of protein
  • 4 grams of fiber
  • 7 grams of sugar

  • That's a good nutrition profile for a weight gainer.

Lots and calories and a good ratio of carbs to protein. Some experts believe you should aim for a ratio of less than 2 to 1 of carbs to protein.

Also, I like to look at the sugar intake. I'm a firm believer that you should really limit your sugar intake. 7 grams per serving is good for a weight gainer.

CytoSport CytoGainer also comes with about 1/3 of the recommended daily intake on various vitamins. It also contains 3 grams of creatine and 2 grams of glutamine. If you're currently supplementing creatine and glutamine, you'll want to take these amounts into consideration.

One thing that did stand out is the large amount of cholesterol per serving. If high cholesterol is a health concern, you might want to limit your intake to one serving per day.

Basically, it has lots of high quality protein, complex carbohydrates, and very low amounts of sugar and fat. A perfect combination for healthy weight gain.

    Muscle Milk Review

Muscle Milk has a formula called EvoPro which stands for evolution based protein.

CytoSport claims part of the formula is "designed after one of nature's most balanced foods: human mother's milk."

This formula makes CytoSport Muscle Milk a protein blend, rather than a pure whey protein supplement. If you're just looking for pure protein, I would recommend EAS premium protein.

Muscle Milk is more than a pure protein supplement. It's a protein blend with various types of proteins similar to MET RX mrp, except with fewer carbohydrates.

Here's the nutrients in Muscle Milk (2 scoops - 70 grams):

    • 300 calories
    • 16 grams of carbs
    • 32 grams of protein
    • 5 grams of fiber
    • 4 grams of sugar

It also comes with various vitamins, minerals and amino acids like l glutamine.

This formula is different from other protein supplements because it contains a combination of whey proteins and casein proteins.

It allows you to absorb protein quickly (whey) and slowly (casein). This combination helps you absorb a greater amount of protein. This supplement is ideal to take during the day or right before bed.

This blend of different types of protein makes it very effective. Whey protein works right away, while casein works much slower. This one-two punch supplies and quick and longer lasting rate of absorption.

Both of these supplements do contain added ingredients that experts believe are actually beneficial, rather than just marketing hype. They both have a rich nutrient profile providing high quality protein.

If you're interested in gaining weight and putting on quality mass, CytoGainer is what you will need.

If you're not looking for too many added calories, but want a good blend of various proteins that are extremely effective in adding lean muscle mass, then CytoSport Muscle Milk is recommended.
